Rathcon Farm - About Us
Rathcon is a family
run farm that has been in the Page family for many generations. Richard
and Dermot farm the land which has experienced considerable change in
agricultural practices over the years. Sheep and tillage was the mainstay
previously but since 1990 the farm has diversified into Christmas trees,
willow for biofuels and the rainbow trout lake.
The lake has been a great success and now looks completely natural in
its surroundings. The planting of rushes, shrubs and trees has attracted
a host of bird and insect life creating a perfect environment for casting
a fly or simply relaxing and enjoying the surroundings.
At the far end of the farm an old quarry provides the ideal setting for
the clay pigeon shooting run by Andy Verney. Andy who is a close family
friend is very passionate about his shooting and has a huge amount of
experience. The 30m tower added with the extra depth of the quarry can
provide seriously challenging clays.
The
fishing and clay shooting has led to the introduction of other activities
such as air rifle, archery, laser skirmishing and adventure courses. At
Rathcon you can be guaranteed a fun and action packed day out.
